When I started Taekwon-do :
I started Tae Kwon-Do in 1975, Phnom Penh , Cambodia when I was 13 years old. I was so impressed with the Tae Kwon-Do demonstration at the Phnom Penh ‘s university. At that time TKD was one the most popular martial art to do in Cambodia. I continued my training in Bangkok and Leicester, and received my 1 st Dan in 1978, I never look back since. I have also studied judo , before I started TKD training.

Experience :
I have been training and teaching for 31 years now. During my time in the RAF , I have taught in Germany , Holland , Saudi Arabia and the UK.

What I find fulfilling about Tae Kwon-Do :
Doing Tae Kwon-Do is fun way to exercise and keep fit and makes me feel young.
Meeting other people and make new friends in the club.

Why I enjoy instructing :
I like to pass on my knowledge and experience to my students , and hope they will do the same . Tae Kwon-Do is my way of life , I enjoy see my students achieving a goal , that they set , from their first training day to black belt.

When and Why I Learn Tae Kwon-Do :
I began studying Taekwon-do under the tutelage of Master Harris in October of 2002. I had wanted to learn for a long time but had not been able to commit enough time to give the art. I became hooked after the first lesson and have never looked back. I chose Taekwon-do as I wanted an activity which would teach me discipline, raise my fitness levels and also to motivate and challenge me. Taekwon-do has given me confidence and endearvouring to follow the tenets in all areas of my life has helped me develop as a person.

Favourite Technique :

Reverse Turning Kick (Wheel kick)

Competition Experience :
I have competed in several inter-club competitions, winning several gold and silver medals. I also competed in Taekwon-do Explosion 2005 achieving 3 rd place in the Women ‘Category.

My future in Tae Kwon-Do :
I hope to attain my 2 nd Dan before the end of 2007 . I also plan to continue my instructor training with Master Harris and hope to achieve instructor status and have my own class with the Harris Academy. I am returning to the USA in the late 2007 and hope to start a class in my local area. It would be wonderful to one day to see one of my own students achieve their black belt.

When and Why I Learn Tae Kwon-Do:
I began studying Taekwon-do in 2002 under the instruction of Master Harris. I originally studied Wado-Ryu karate as a teenager achieving black belt status at the age of eighteen ; unfortunately health problems forced me to cease training shortly after. Fortunately , after the birth of my first child I was able to begin retraining and as I had seen Master Harris training students at Virgin Active Rugby , I felt it was an ideal opportunity. I felt that the teachings of Master Harris were based on very traditional methods and I have regained my desire to succeed, confidence, motivation and self-discipline. My first child is now four years of age and she too is soon to learn Taekwon-do under of Master Harris.

Favourite Technique:

Spinning crescent kick

Competition Experience:
I have competed in several inter-club competitions, winning one team gold one two individual gold medals.

My future in Tae Kwon-Do:
My next goals are to achieve full instructor status and achieve my 2 nd Dan within the next two years. I feel that under the guidance of Master Harris I can go to have my own classes with the Harris Academy and give to others what Master Harris has given to me.
