Courtesy (Ye Ui) – Tae
Kwon-Do students should strive to build a noble character and to conduct themselves accordingly. They should aim to be polite, show respect for their elders and more senior students and act with fairness and sincerity. |

Integrity (Yom Chi) – Tae
Kwon-Do students must be able to identify the difference between right and wrong, and be willing to accept the consequences of whatever course of action they choose in life. They should always strive to follow the right path. |

Perseverance (In Nae) – A secret of success Tae
Kwon-Do is learning to overcome difficulties through perseverance. A student who patiently works to achieve their goal will surely reap the rewards of their efforts. As Confucius said ‘ One who is impatient in trivial matters can seldom achieve success in matters of great importance. |

Self-control (Guk Gi) – It is extremely important to demonstrate this tenet both inside and outside the dojang. A loss of self –control while free sparring, for example, could prove disastrous for each of the students involved. Similarly, a person who loses self-control in their personal or public affairs does so at a heavy price. |

Indomitable sprit (Baekjul Boolgool) – Someone who stands by their principles in the face of overwhelming odds enjoys a strong indomitable spirit. Tae
Kwon-Do students are modest and honest at all times, never boasting of their accomplishments. When confronted with injustice thy will deal with the instigators without fear or hesitation. As Confucius said ‘It is an act of cowardice to fail to speak out against injustice’ . History has shown that those who pursue their dreams earnestly and strenuously with indomitable spirit stand a much better chance of achieving their goals. |
